Fort Myers

We have been having a quiet week in Fort Myers.......we are getting rested up for Disney World! We have managed to check out a few beaches though. First we went to Sanibel Island...home of Gasparilla the pirate and then on to Captiva...where he held young heiresses for ransom. Sanibel is great for shelling so we spent the afternoon getting a crick in our necks looking down for shells. We were rewarded with many pretty ones which we have put into a jar. The next beach was Fort Myers where Richard and Jenna could fish off the pier while we enjoyed the sun and sand. Jenna caught a puffer fish and Richard caught a lady fish and a catfish with spikes on its side loaded with poison....yes, he felt the pain. Luckily it went into a muscle and not a joint where the local say it can be very painful.....I think it was painful by the look on his face. Today we went to Bonita Springs (like that name don't ya Bonita) to the most beautiful beach so far (I know what you are thinking Bonita!) We got some great shells and the kids had lots of fun in the surf. Matthew is getting quite brave we have noticed. He no longer hangs right by the shore but ventures out to where the waves come up to his neck.

2 more sleeps till Disney World....think the kids are excited!!
